TSPC Commander Rohan Ganjhu Arrested in Latehar, Country-Made Rifle Recovered

Latehar: Police arrested alleged TSPC commander Rohan Ganjhu during a raid at Barwatoli village under Balumath police station area in Latehar district. A country-made rifle was also recovered during a search of his house, police said on Tuesday.

According to police, Ganjhu has several cases related to alleged Naxal violence registered against him in different police station areas of Latehar and Chatra districts. Police had been searching for him for a long time.

Police Acted on Intelligence Input

Addressing a press conference, DSP Umesh Prasad Singh said Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav had received information that active TSPC commander Rohan Ganjhu had arrived in his native Barwatoli village under the Balumath police station area.

After verifying the information, the SP directed the formation of a police team under Balumath police station in-charge Anubhav Kumar Sinha.

House Surrounded During Raid

The police team reached Barwatoli and surrounded the accused’s house from all sides before apprehending him.

Police subsequently searched the house and recovered a country-made rifle, the DSP said.

Several Cases Registered Against the Accused

DSP Singh said Rohan Ganjhu had previously been associated with several extremist organisations. More than five cases related to alleged Naxal violence have been registered against him at different police stations in Latehar district.

Police also have information about several cases registered against him in Chatra district.

Balumath police station in-charge Anubhav Kumar Sinha, Sub-Inspector Dheeraj Kumar Singh, Devendra Kumar, Manoj Kumar and other police personnel played an important role in the operation, police said.
