Two Arrested in Giridih for Allegedly Selling Obscene Videos of Minors Online

Jharkhand News : A special team of the Ranchi CID has arrested two youths from the Koldiha area of Giridih district for their alleged involvement in an online network selling obscene videos of minor girls.

The operation was carried out around 2 a.m. under the leadership of DSP Archana Smriti Khalko. The accused, identified as Hasan Raja and Md. Mohab Ansari, were arrested from their respective residences.

According to investigating officials, preliminary technical evidence and recovered digital material confirmed the allegations against them. Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act and the POCSO Act. The CID team has taken both accused to Ranchi for further interrogation, after which they will be sent to judicial custody following legal formalities.

Sources said the investigation began after the Cyber Cell of Hyderabad Police recovered an objectionable video involving a minor girl. Technical analysis traced the source of the content to Jharkhand, following which the matter was handed over to the Ranchi CID.

During the investigation, officials uncovered what is believed to be an organized racket involved in creating and selling explicit videos of minor girls through various online platforms. The gang allegedly operated dedicated channels on the messaging platform Telegram to sell the videos. Authorities are also probing links to certain websites suspected of distributing the content.

CID officials said efforts are underway to identify other individuals connected to the network through digital forensics, mobile analysis, and social media tracking. More charges may be added as the investigation progresses.

Police have appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious online activity or information related to such illegal content to the nearest police station or CID authorities.
