Jharkhand News : A disturbing case of sexual assault has come to light in Jharkhand’s Palamu district, where a woman was allegedly raped under the pretext of her child’s medical treatment. Police have arrested the accused, a clinic operator, and sent him to judicial custody.
Confirming the incident on Monday, Palamu Superintendent of Police Rishma Ramesan said the crime occurred in Hutukdag village under Chhatarpur police station limits. The accused has been identified as Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Rabda village in the Naudih Bazar police station area, who was running a local clinic.
According to the victim’s statement, her child had been unwell for some time. As her husband often remained away from home due to work, she was staying at her in-laws’ house. For treatment, she visited Sanjay Kumar’s clinic in Hutukdag. The accused reportedly told her that the child was suffering from a cold and claimed he would perform a traditional heating treatment.
Under this pretext, he allegedly took the woman to a house adjacent to the clinic, where he committed rape. The victim stated that after the assault, the accused threatened her with serious consequences if she disclosed the incident.
Despite the intimidation, the woman showed courage and approached Chhatarpur police station, where she lodged a formal complaint. Acting swiftly, police arrested the accused and produced him before the court, which sent him to judicial custody.
Police said the matter is being investigated thoroughly, and strict legal action will be ensured. The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with residents demanding severe punishment for offenders who misuse trust in the name of medical care.
