Jharkhand News : Tension prevailed at Jeevan Jyoti Hospital in Jhumri Tilaiya, Koderma district, on Sunday night after the death of a 28-year-old man during treatment. The deceased’s family alleged that he died after being administered a wrong injection and accused the hospital management and doctors of medical negligence. Police reached the hospital after receiving information and brought the situation under control. An investigation is underway.
The deceased has been identified as Akash Paswan (28), a resident of Raidih village under Nawalshahi police station limits.
According to the family, Akash had recently returned home from Surat. He was admitted to Jeevan Jyoti Hospital on Saturday afternoon after his health suddenly deteriorated.
The family alleged that his condition had been improving until Sunday afternoon. However, after he was allegedly given an injection at the hospital, his condition suddenly became critical. Doctors then referred him to Ranchi for advanced treatment.
The family claimed they suspected Akash had died while being taken to Ranchi. They subsequently brought his body back to Jeevan Jyoti Hospital.
On returning to the hospital, family members and local residents staged a protest, accusing the doctors and hospital authorities of negligence. Police intervened and managed to calm the protesters.
The family also alleged that similar incidents of medical negligence had occurred at the hospital in the past. However, the hospital management has not yet issued any official statement regarding the allegations.
Police said the matter is being investigated and that further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and the post-mortem report.
