Ranchi : Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Dhurwa, Ranchi, organised a grand Matri Pujan (Mother Worship) programme on Friday to promote family values, moral education and a sense of love, respect, gratitude and reverence for mothers among students.

The programme aimed to raise awareness about the declining importance of family and moral values amid the growing influence of materialistic education and the lack of value-based learning.

The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and floral tributes by Chief Guest Roshni Khalkho, Mayor of Ranchi Municipal Corporation, and Guest of Honour Dr. Devanjali Banerjee, Gynaecologist at Devanika Hospital, Tupudana, Ranchi, along with other distinguished guests.

Manisha Srivastava, in-charge of the school’s primary section, introduced the dignitaries and welcomed them to the programme. Dr. Narendra Dev Goswami, President of Shishu Vikas Mandir Samiti (Jharkhand), Dhurwa, Ranchi, felicitated Chief Guest Roshni Khalkho with a traditional stole and a memento. Similarly, S. Venkat Raman, Secretary of the committee, honoured Dr. Devanjali Banerjee with a stole and a memento.

Addressing the students, Chief Guest Roshni Khalkho said that children learn important life lessons under the loving care and guidance of their mothers. A mother gives children the strength to face life’s challenges and inspires them to move forward with confidence.

She appreciated the school’s efforts to inculcate values and good character among students, particularly at a time when children increasingly spend their time watching cartoons and playing video games. She emphasised that academic excellence alone is not enough and that moral values and good character are equally essential for success in life.

Expressing confidence in the students, she said that the school’s children would play an important role in nation-building and contribute towards India’s aspiration to become a Vishwaguru (a global leader in knowledge and wisdom).

Guest of Honour Dr. Devanjali Banerjee said that the students of the institution were fortunate to receive an education rooted in values and cultural traditions. Describing mothers as the central pillars of families, she emphasised that their importance remains constant throughout life. She also urged mothers to give due attention to their own health and well-being while caring for their children.

The programme was smoothly conducted by Class V students Aaradhya and Padmanabh. The event concluded with the recitation of the Kalyan Mantra.
