Uncontrolled Bus Rams Into Navratri Feast Crowd in Jabalpur, 15 Injured

India News : A tragic incident occurred during a Navratri feast in Sihora, near Gauri Tiraaha, Jabalpur, when an uncontrolled bus plowed into a crowd of devotees on Tuesday night, leaving 15 people injured, some of them seriously.

According to eyewitnesses, devotees from nearby rural areas had gathered for the religious bhandara (community feast) and were receiving prasad when a speeding bus rammed into them from behind. A motorcycle was also caught under the vehicle and dragged for nearly 100 meters.

Among the injured were Roli Soni, Mamta Kol, Khushboo Vanshkar, Sandhya Choudhary, Shikha Choudhary, Kailash Choudhary, Manish Dahiya, Kodu Lal Burman, and Sohan Lal, among others. Locals quickly helped transport the injured to the Sihora Civil Hospital, where five critically injured were later referred to Jabalpur Medical College for advanced treatment.

Angered by the incident, locals beat up the bus driver, suspecting he was under the influence of alcohol, though police have not confirmed this. Questions were also raised about the administration’s negligence, as the bus reportedly violated a no-entry zone to reach the crowded area.

Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh expressed deep concern over the incident and spoke with Collector Raghvendra Singh to ensure proper medical care for the injured. Commissioner Dhananjay Singh and IG Pramod Verma visited the injured at the hospital, accompanied by the Collector and SP Sampat Upadhyay, and instructed medical teams to leave no stone unturned in providing treatment.

On Wednesday, Collector Raghvendra Singh announced that the families of the seven critically injured patients referred to Jabalpur would receive ₹10,000 in immediate assistance through the Red Cross Society.
