India News : Russian President Vladimir Putin received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday morning, marking the beginning of his highly significant visit to India. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly welcomed the Russian leader as he arrived at the forecourt of the presidential palace.
As per India’s highest military protocol, President Putin was presented with a 21-gun salute, followed by an impressive Guard of Honour by the tri-services contingent. The ceremony showcased India’s deep respect for the visiting head of state and the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
Following the ceremonial reception, President Putin departed for Rajghat, where he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi by laying a wreath at the memorial.
25 Years of India–Russia Strategic Partnership
Putin’s visit comes at a historic moment, as India and Russia celebrate 25 years of their strategic partnership, first established in October 2000. The relationship was further elevated in December 2010, when both countries upgraded it to a “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,” reflecting the depth and trust that define their bilateral ties.
Over the past decades, India and Russia have collaborated closely in areas such as defense, nuclear energy, hydrocarbons, space, scientific research, and geopolitical cooperation. This visit is expected to strengthen ongoing projects and pave the way for new agreements.
A Diplomatically Crucial Visit
In the backdrop of shifting global dynamics, President Putin’s India visit holds considerable diplomatic significance. Both nations continue to share strategic alignment on several international issues, and this meeting is likely to shape the future roadmap of multi-sectoral cooperation.
