Double Weather Attack in Northwest India: Rain, Snowfall and Cold Wave Alert

India News : Weather conditions are set to worsen once again across northern and western parts of India. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), two consecutive western disturbances will impact northwest India, making the coming days challenging for daily life.

The first western disturbance will begin affecting the region from the night of January 30, while a second fresh system is expected to become active from February 2. Due to these systems, significant weather changes are likely across the western Himalayan region between January 31 and February 3.

Heavy rainfall and snowfall are expected in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on January 31 and February 1. Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may witness thunderstorms, lightning, rain, and snowfall on February 1 and 2.

In the plains, Punjab and Haryana are likely to receive rainfall during the same period. Rajasthan may experience light scattered rain accompanied by thunder between January 31 and February 3. Parts of central India will also be affected, with light rain expected in Madhya Pradesh on February 1 and 2, and in Chhattisgarh on February 2.

Frost conditions may prevail in some areas of Uttarakhand on January 30, posing a risk to crops. As per IMD forecasts, minimum temperatures across northwest India will remain largely unchanged over the next two days, followed by a rise of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. However, this temporary relief will be short-lived, as temperatures may drop again by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius afterward. Similar temperature fluctuations are expected in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Dense fog will continue to disrupt visibility in several regions. Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh may experience dense fog during night and morning hours till January 31, while very dense fog could persist in eastern Uttar Pradesh until February 1. A cold wave warning has also been issued for Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on January 31.

Adverse weather conditions will also affect coastal and marine areas. Strong winds are expected over the Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar, and the Arabian Sea. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea until February 3.

Overall, the next four to five days are expected to remain weather-intensive across northern and central India.
