India News : A shocking case of blackmail and extortion has surfaced from Purba Bardhaman district in West Bengal. In the Nadanghat police station area of Purba Sthali, a married woman has alleged that unknown persons threatened to make her bathing photos and videos viral unless she paid ₹10 lakh.
Mobile phone and threatening note found outside home
According to the complaint, the victim is a resident of Shrirampur area in Purba Sthali-I block. Her husband works as a toto (e-rickshaw) driver. On Wednesday, an unidentified person allegedly threw a mobile phone and a handwritten note outside their house.
While cleaning the house, the woman noticed the phone. After removing the plastic cover and switching it on, she was left shocked. The note read: “Didi, there are your pictures in the phone. Have a look.”
When she opened the phone’s gallery, she reportedly found several photos and videos of herself bathing.
₹10 lakh demand, threat to go public on social media
The woman alleged that using these images, the perpetrators demanded ₹10 lakh, threatening to upload the content on social media if the money was not paid.
She further claimed that the extortionists described themselves as women. The note allegedly stated:
“We are women. We secretly record videos and sell them. Before selling your pictures, we informed you. If you pay ₹10 lakh, we won’t sell them.”
The note also warned of serious consequences if the matter was reported to anyone.
Police begin investigation
After the incident, the woman informed her husband. The couple later approached Nadanghat police station, lodged a written complaint, and handed over the mobile phone and the threatening note to the police.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials said they are probing how the photos and videos were recorded and who is behind the alleged blackmailing racket. All angles are being examined to identify and apprehend those involved.
