World News : Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after a reported joint strike by the United States and Israel on Iran’s B1 Bridge, prompting Tehran to prepare for possible retaliation. The attack has further intensified the already volatile situation in the region.
According to reports, the strike targeted Iran’s tallest bridge, known as the B1 Bridge, which was still under construction. The structure, standing at approximately 136 meters, was intended to connect Tehran with the western city of Karaj. The attack caused partial damage to the bridge and reportedly left several people injured.
In response, Iran has signaled a strong counteraction. The country’s state-run Fars News Agency released a list of eight strategic bridges across Gulf nations and Jordan that have reportedly been identified by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as potential targets.
The list includes major infrastructure such as the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway in Kuwait, Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Al Maqta Bridge, and Sheikh Khalifa Bridge in the UAE, the King Fahd Causeway connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, as well as Jordan’s King Hussein Bridge, Damia Bridge, and Abdoun Bridge. These structures are considered vital for regional connectivity and economic activity.
The escalation comes shortly after strong remarks from Donald Trump, who warned Iran of severe consequences if it failed to engage in negotiations to end the ongoing conflict. He even stated that Iran could be pushed “back to the stone age” if tensions continued to rise.
Iranian state media reported that at least eight people were killed and around 95 others injured in the attack on the bridge. Many of the victims were reportedly gathered nearby to celebrate a public holiday when the strike occurred.
Reacting to the developments, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the attack, stating that targeting civilian infrastructure—even incomplete projects—would not force Iran into submission. He described the act as a sign of desperation and declining morale among its adversaries.
Meanwhile, footage shared online showed smoke rising from the damaged bridge, further fueling global concerns about a wider regional conflict. Analysts fear that targeting key infrastructure could lead to disruptions in trade routes and escalate military tensions across multiple countries.
As the situation unfolds, the international community is closely monitoring developments, urging restraint from all sides to prevent further escalation in an already fragile region.
