Suspected ISI Agent Arrested in Dehradun Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit, Major Terror Plot Foiled

India News : Just days before Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit on April 14, security agencies in Dehradun have foiled a major terror conspiracy. The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF), under “Operation Prahar,” arrested a suspected agent linked to Pakistan’s intelligence network from the Premnagar area.

The accused, identified as 29-year-old Vikrant Kashyap, a resident of Jhajra, reportedly worked at a vehicle washing center to avoid suspicion. However, investigations revealed that he was in direct contact with operatives linked to Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and terrorist handlers based in Pakistan.

According to STF officials, Vikrant was allegedly helping establish a network for a new terror outfit called Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan. He was in regular communication with a Pakistan-based handler, Shahzad Bhatti, and had been under surveillance for the past month.

Security forces recovered a .32 bore Italian-made pistol, seven live cartridges, and spray paint from his possession. Investigators also found that he had been sharing sensitive videos and locations of key military, police, and central institutions in Dehradun with contacts across the border.

Reports suggest that he was radicalized through provocative social media content linked to the killing of Sidhu Moosewala. The larger plan of the terror network was to build sleeper cells from Dehradun to Delhi and potentially carry out major attacks.

During interrogation, it was revealed that his handlers frequently inquired about the distance to Delhi, indicating a possible plan to target the national capital. He had allegedly been assigned responsibilities to carry out explosions or spread panic in major cities like Delhi and Mumbai.

Security agencies are now investigating the full extent of the network and identifying other possible operatives involved. The arrest, made just ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, has prompted heightened security measures across the region.
