Sports News : Powered by brilliant batting performances from Alice Capsey and Heather Knight, the England Women’s Cricket Team defeated the India Women’s Cricket Team by six wickets in the third and final T20I on Tuesday night (Wednesday IST), securing the three-match series 2-1.
Chasing a target of 181, England recovered impressively after losing early wickets and reached the target in just 18.3 overs.
England Recover After Early Setbacks
England had a poor start to their chase. Danni Wyatt-Hodge was dismissed in the second over, while Sophia Dunkley also departed early. The wicket of Amy Jones in the final over of the powerplay left England under pressure.
However, Alice Capsey turned the game around with an aggressive innings. She attacked the Indian bowlers from the outset and completed her half-century in just 26 balls. At the other end, captain Heather Knight anchored the innings calmly and steadily increased the scoring rate.
The pair added a match-winning century partnership that ended India’s hopes of a comeback. Capsey scored a superb 82 runs, while Knight remained unbeaten on 70. Knight sealed the victory with a boundary.
Harmanpreet’s Fifty Takes India to 180
Earlier, India posted 180/5 in their 20 overs. The visitors also had a shaky start, losing both openers early.
Yastika Bhatia then played an attacking knock, maintaining the scoring rate during the powerplay with several attractive strokes before being run out.
In the middle order, captain Harmanpreet Kaur took charge and remained unbeaten on 56. However, India managed only 48 runs in the final five overs, which ultimately proved costly.
For England, Lauren Bell picked up two crucial wickets.
