Bihar News : Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife, former Bihar Chief Minister and current Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, Rabri Devi, have asked all security personnel deployed at their official residence to leave.
According to reports, the security staff posted at the residence withdrew after being instructed to do so. As a result, security arrangements outside the residence have been completely removed, leaving the premises unusually quiet.
The development was confirmed by RJD chief spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav.
Move Seen as Protest Against Security Reduction
The decision is being viewed as a protest against the recent reduction in security personnel assigned to members of the Lalu family.
Following the move, security guards returned to their respective barracks, and even the main entrance of the residence was left without a security presence. Areas that usually witnessed security activity now appear deserted.
Security Review Conducted Recently
The development comes just days after the Bihar government conducted a review of security arrangements for several VIPs. Based on that assessment, changes were made to the security cover provided to members of the Lalu family.
However, no changes were made to the security detail of Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly.
Security Benefits Still Remain
Under the revised arrangements, Lalu Prasad Yadav will continue to receive security benefits entitled to a former Chief Minister, including house guards, personal security officers, a pilot vehicle, escort vehicles, and a bulletproof vehicle.
Similarly, Rabri Devi will continue to receive security personnel, male and female bodyguards, pilot and escort vehicles, and a bulletproof car. However, the overall number of security personnel assigned to them has reportedly been reduced compared to earlier arrangements.
The incident has sparked fresh political debate in Bihar over VIP security and the government’s decision to reassess security cover for prominent political leaders.
