Bihar News : The wait is finally over for nearly 600,000 government school teachers in Bihar. The state Education Department has opened the e-Shikshakosh portal for online transfer applications from July 29 to August 5, allowing eligible teachers to apply for transfers.
According to the department, the entire transfer process will be conducted online, and the final transfer orders will be issued by October 31.
Transfer Process to Be Completed in Three Phases
The Education Department has divided the transfer process into three phases.
Phase 1: August 7 – September 9
The first phase will focus on teacher adjustment and rationalization. Teachers will be redistributed to schools facing staff shortages or excess staffing. The department will publish a preliminary list, invite objections, and then release the final list after resolving the objections.
Phase 2: September 10 – September 14
This phase will allow mutual transfers, enabling two teachers to exchange their postings by mutual consent. Applications will be reviewed by district, divisional, and state-level committees before approval.
Phase 3: September 17 – September 23
Applications for general transfers will be accepted during this phase. Before that, on September 16, the department will publish the updated list of vacant posts. Teachers will then be able to choose their preferred schools while submitting their applications.
Between September 24 and October 31, the department will release the transfer list, dispose of objections, and issue the final transfer orders.
Entire Process to Be Online
The Education Department said that every stage of the process—from application submission to publication of transfer lists and disposal of appeals—will be conducted online. The new system is expected to make transfers simpler, more transparent, and time-bound, while ensuring a balanced distribution of teachers across schools.
TRE-1, TRE-2, and TRE-3 Teachers Also Eligible
Under the revised transfer rules, teachers appointed through the BPSC Teacher Recruitment Examinations (TRE-1, TRE-2, and TRE-3) will also be eligible to apply for transfers, even if they are currently serving their probation period, subject to the prescribed conditions. This had been a long-standing demand of teachers.
Department Warns Against Bribery
The Education Department has issued a stern warning against corruption in the transfer process. It stated that if any teacher attempts to bribe an official, or if any official demands or accepts a bribe for processing transfers, strict legal action will be taken against those involved.
