Bihar News : Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary welcomed Parliament’s passage of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026, saying the move marks a historic step toward strengthening India’s cultural heritage and national pride.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said, “Vande Mataram is not just a national song but an eternal symbol of India’s freedom struggle and patriotic spirit.” He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for extending legal protection to Vande Mataram on par with the national anthem, calling it a new chapter in safeguarding the nation’s identity.
Choudhary said the decision would reinforce respect for national symbols and inspire patriotism among future generations.
The bill, which makes the insult of the national song Vande Mataram a punishable offence, was passed by the Lok Sabha on Thursday amid opposition protests after receiving approval from the Rajya Sabha a day earlier. It will become law after receiving the President’s assent.
