Nitish Kumar Says Bihar Government Will Continue Empowering Women

Bihar News : Janata Dal (United) national president and former Bihar Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Nitish Kumar met party workers and supporters at his residence on Sunday and discussed organisational activities and issues concerning the public.

Nitish Kumar enquired about the well-being of the workers, interacted with them and encouraged them to remain committed to public service. He also urged party workers to maintain regular communication with people and remain responsive to issues affecting the public.

During the interaction, party leader Mohatarma Shabana Daud presented Nitish Kumar with a handmade bedsheet set. She said the initiative was made possible through assistance provided under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana, under which one woman from each family receives financial assistance of ₹10,000, with further support of up to ₹2 lakh.

Women Gaining Financial Independence

Shabana said the scheme has helped women take up self-employment and improve their financial condition, while also contributing to higher household incomes. She expressed gratitude to Nitish Kumar on behalf of women across Bihar and said government initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment, self-employment and economic advancement have created new opportunities for them.

Nitish Kumar accepted the handmade gift and appreciated Shabana’s efforts. He said women’s economic empowerment and self-employment are important pillars of Bihar’s development.

He noted that women associated with Jeevika have witnessed significant positive changes in their lives. Financial assistance under the women’s employment scheme has enabled them to start self-employment activities, increase their income and strengthen their families economically.

50% Panchayat Reservation, 35% Job Quota for Women

Nitish Kumar said the state government would continue working to make women self-reliant and empowered. He highlighted several measures, including 50% reservation for women in the three-tier Panchayati Raj system, financial assistance from birth to graduation under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, and 35% reservation for women in government jobs.

Several senior party leaders and workers, including Lalan Kumar Sarraf, Deputy Leader of the Ruling Party in the Legislative Council and party treasurer, were present on the occasion.
