Bihar News : The proposed Patliputra Greenfield Satellite Township will be developed over approximately 81,730 acres (around 33,070 hectares) and is designed to accommodate 6.61 million (66.10 lakh) residents in the future.
According to the recently released master plan, the first phase of development will create infrastructure for 2.5 million (25 lakh) people, with facilities to be expanded in subsequent phases as the population grows.
At present, the identified planning area has a population of approximately 245,000 (2.45 lakh) and 52,910 residential units.
Master Plan Designed with 2047 Vision
According to the Urban Development and Housing Department, the township has been planned with the year 2047 in mind. The project aims to develop a modern, well-planned, environmentally sustainable, and self-reliant city.
The master plan earmarks separate zones for residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational, and public utility purposes to ensure balanced and sustainable urban growth.
Focus on Green Infrastructure and Sustainable Development
The plan emphasizes:
- Mixed land-use development
- Transit-oriented development (TOD)
- Conservation of green spaces
- Blue-green infrastructure
- Climate-resilient urban planning
- Phased development
- Prevention of unplanned and scattered urban expansion
Officials believe that once fully developed, the township will provide modern urban infrastructure for more than 6.6 million residents.
