Important News for 2.9 Million LPG Consumers in Bihar: Complete e-KYC by August 16

Bihar News : There is an important update for millions of LPG consumers in Bihar. Consumers who have not yet completed e-KYC for their LPG connections are advised to complete the process before the deadline. According to reports, failure to complete e-KYC by August 16 could affect eligibility for LPG subsidy benefits.

Around 2.9 million domestic and Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) consumers in Bihar are reportedly yet to complete their e-KYC. Oil marketing companies have been urging consumers to complete the verification process.

How Much LPG Subsidy Is Available?

Under the current arrangement, eligible PMUY beneficiaries receive a targeted subsidy of ₹300 per 14.2-kg LPG cylinder, subject to applicable government rules.

A subsidy of around ₹79.26 per cylinder has also been reported for certain eligible domestic LPG consumers. However, the actual subsidy amount depends on the consumer category and prevailing government guidelines.

More Than 10 Million Domestic LPG Connections in Bihar

According to the figures cited in the report, Bihar has around 10.9 million domestic LPG connections. Approximately 8 million consumers have completed their KYC, while around 2.9 million are still pending verification.

Oil marketing companies are running campaigns to encourage the remaining consumers to complete their e-KYC.

Action Against Fake or Ineligible Connections

The e-KYC drive is also aimed at identifying irregularities and potentially fake or inactive LPG connections. Verification can help companies confirm the identity of consumers and detect connections operating with incorrect details or documents.

What Happens If e-KYC Is Not Completed?

Consumers who fail to complete e-KYC within the prescribed period may face action under the applicable rules of their oil marketing company. This could potentially include an impact on subsidy benefits or other action related to the LPG connection.

However, the exact consequences depend on the latest rules and the consumer’s eligibility.

e-KYC Can Also Be Done From Home

Consumers do not necessarily have to visit their LPG distributor to complete e-KYC. Customers of IndianOil, Bharatgas and HP Gas can use the respective official digital platforms or mobile applications, where available, to complete the verification process.

Consumers who receive LPG subsidy are advised to check their e-KYC status and complete the process before the applicable deadline to avoid any disruption to their benefits.
