Bihar News : Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday said the disappearance of children and human trafficking are matters of serious concern for the government. He said the Bihar government is following a zero-tolerance policy against human trafficking, with a focus not only on prevention but also on providing a safe environment to victims and helping them return to the mainstream of society.
The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating the eastern regional conference on ‘Missing Children and Human Trafficking’ organised by the Home Department at Gyan Bhawan in Patna.
Focus on Employment and Skill Development
Samrat Choudhary said employment and skill development need special attention to prevent human trafficking. Providing people with safe and legitimate employment opportunities can help reduce the risk of trafficking, he said.
He said the ‘Naya Savera 3.0’ campaign is being used to make activities related to awareness, prevention, rescue and rehabilitation against human trafficking more effective.
The government, he said, wants every person rescued from trafficking to receive not just immediate relief but also opportunities for skills, employment and a dignified, self-reliant life.
Coordination With Police, Judiciary and Other States
The Chief Minister said the Bihar government will work in coordination with other states, police, administration, judiciary and social organisations to effectively curb human trafficking and ensure the safety of children and vulnerable sections.
He said women have a significant representation in the Bihar Police and that a Special Juvenile Police Unit has also been constituted in the state.
Over 1,200 Missing Children Recovered
Choudhary said Bihar has introduced a real-time monitoring system to make action in cases involving missing children and persons more time-bound. So far, more than 1,200 missing children have been recovered in the state through the system, he said.
He also said ‘Sahyog Camps’ are being organised to ensure that public complaints are resolved within 30 days. More than six lakh applications have been received through these camps so far, of which over 5.50 lakh cases have been disposed of, according to the Chief Minister.
CM Hears Cases on Second Tuesday Every Month
Choudhary said officials have been assigned responsibility to ensure accountability in the disposal of cases.
If a victim does not receive justice at the official level or people are dissatisfied with the action taken, the Chief Minister personally hears such cases on the second Tuesday of every month.
He said 129 applications were presented before him during the previous ‘State-Level Sahyog Programme’, of which cases related to 100 applicants were resolved.
CM Also Highlights Flood and Water Management
Samrat Choudhary said the government is also working towards finding permanent solutions to challenges such as floods to accelerate Bihar’s development.
He said several important measures have been taken in water management and irrigation to reduce the impact of floods in north Bihar.
Irrigation facilities have been expanded across the state, while plans are also being prepared to link major rivers such as the Ganga, Gandak (Narayani) and Kosi and improve water resource management.
The Chief Minister said the state government is fully committed to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s vision of a prosperous Bihar.
Judges and Legal Experts Attend Conference
The programme was attended by Supreme Court judge Justice A. Amanullah, Patna High Court judge Justice Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, Bihar Advocate General S.D. Sanjay, Supreme Court-appointed Standard Operating Procedure Committee chairperson and Additional Solicitor General of India Archana Pathak Dave, and former Delhi High Court judge Justice Mukta Gupta, among other speakers.
Patna High Court judge Justice Mohit J. Shah and other judges were also present at the event.
