Bihar News : The Bihar government has approved water supply projects worth nearly ₹280 crore for Munger and Jamalpur under AMRUT 2.0, with the aim of providing regular piped drinking water to 17,745 households across the two cities.
The projects have received administrative approval under the Centre-sponsored Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0.
The Munger Water Supply Project Phase-I has been sanctioned ₹177.72 crore, while ₹102.23 crore has been approved for the Jamalpur Water Supply Project. The combined cost of the two projects will be around ₹279.95 crore.
10,540 Homes to Get Tap Connections in Munger
According to the Urban Development and Housing Department, the Munger project will provide tap water connections to 10,540 households.
A new 53 MLD water treatment plant will also be constructed. The existing 14 MLD treatment plant will be renovated as part of the project.
The plan also includes construction of six new water towers and renovation of three existing ones. Around 199 km of water distribution network will be laid across the city to strengthen the supply system.
7,205 Households to Benefit in Jamalpur
Under the Jamalpur Water Supply Project, 7,205 households will receive piped water connections.
Four new water towers will be constructed in the city. The project also includes around 20.77 km of rising main and approximately 17.49 km of water distribution network for supplying treated drinking water.
Water storage facilities and pump-house-related infrastructure will also be developed under the project.
17,745 Families to Get Regular Piped Water
Once both projects are completed, a total of 17,745 households in Munger and Jamalpur are expected to benefit from regular piped drinking water.
The expansion of water treatment facilities, pipelines and water towers is expected to strengthen the urban water supply infrastructure and improve the availability of clean drinking water for residents.
