Bihar Diesel Subsidy: Farmers to Get Rs 750 Per Acre Per Irrigation

Bihar News : The Bihar government has decided to provide a diesel subsidy to farmers to offer relief for the irrigation of Kharif crops. Farmers using diesel pump sets for irrigation will receive a subsidy of Rs 750 per acre for each irrigation.

Under the scheme, farmers growing paddy seedlings and jute can receive up to Rs 1,500 per acre for a maximum of two irrigations. For paddy, maize, pulses, oilseeds, seasonal vegetables, medicinal and aromatic plants and other Kharif crops, assistance of up to Rs 2,250 per acre will be provided for a maximum of three irrigations.

Diesel Subsidy Available for Up to 8 Acres

The diesel subsidy has been fixed for a maximum of 8 acres of land per farmer. Only one member of a family will be eligible to receive benefits under the scheme.

The online application process for the scheme began on August 17, 2026. Both raiyat and non-raiyat farmers will be eligible for the diesel subsidy, provided they are actually irrigating standing crops using diesel pump sets.

Raiyat farmers must upload their land revenue receipt while applying. Non-raiyat farmers cultivating land belonging to others will be verified through the concerned ward member, ward councillor, mukhiya, sarpanch or a member of the panchayat committee, along with the Agriculture Coordinator.

Geo-Tagged Photos Required for Verification

Farmers seeking the diesel subsidy will have to take and upload geo-tagged photographs while carrying out irrigation. The benefit will be available only to farmers who are actually purchasing diesel and using it for irrigation.

The Agriculture Coordinator will also verify the details. A digital receipt or digital voucher issued after purchasing diesel from an authorised petrol pump will be considered valid.

The receipt must contain the last 10 digits of the farmer’s 13-digit registration number.

Thumb Impression Mandatory on Diesel Receipt

The Agriculture Department has also made it mandatory for farmers to provide their thumb impression on the diesel receipt. During verification, the original diesel purchase receipt must be produced before the Agriculture Coordinator.

No subsidy will be provided for diesel purchased from petrol pumps located outside Bihar. Farmers will be able to apply for only one irrigation at a time.

Diesel Purchased Until October 30 Will Be Eligible

Only diesel purchased for irrigation purposes until October 30, 2026, will be considered eligible under the diesel subsidy scheme.

Farmers will need to ensure that they have all necessary documents related to diesel purchase and irrigation while submitting their applications.

Only Registered Farmers Can Apply

According to the Agriculture Department, only farmers registered online will be eligible for benefits under the scheme.

The application and verification process will be carried out digitally. If an application is rejected due to minor errors, farmers will be allowed to correct the mistakes and apply again.
