Bihar News : A District Anti Riot Force (DARF) will be formed in Purnia to deal effectively with emergency situations such as riots, unrest, violent protests and communal tension. The police headquarters has decided to establish the special force in all districts of Bihar. The DARF will be mobilised within 20 minutes of receiving information about a serious law-and-order incident.
According to the directions issued by the police headquarters, Purnia has been placed in Category B. One DARF company will be formed in the district and six vehicles will be provided for the force.
DSP (Reserve) to Head the Force
At the district level, the Police Deputy Superintendent (Reserve) will be in charge of the DARF. The officer will be responsible for deployment, discipline, training, availability of safety equipment and maintenance of records related to operations.
The DARF will comprise trained police officers and personnel, women police personnel, a lathi unit, tear gas unit, armed force personnel, medical and ambulance support teams, videography personnel, communication staff, reserve personnel and wireless operators.
Each company will consist of three platoons, with 47 police personnel assigned to each platoon. Each company will receive six vehicles, including one bus and one truck.
Trainers to Receive Training in Meerut
Selected DARF trainers will undergo a Training of Trainers programme at the Rapid Action Force Academy for Public Order (RAPO), Meerut. After completing the programme, the trained officers will provide one month of specialised training to DARF personnel at district police centres.
A one-week refresher training programme will also be conducted every three months to maintain the force’s efficiency and readiness.
Bihar to Have 49 DARF Companies
The police headquarters has divided districts into A, B and C categories and made provisions for 49 DARF companies and 294 vehicles across Bihar.
Apart from Purnia, Madhepura, Nalanda, Aurangabad, Nawada, Jehanabad, Bhojpur, Buxar, Kaimur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi, Siwan, Gopalganj, Saharsa, Supaul, Katihar, Araria, Kishanganj, Banka, Munger, Jamui and Khagaria have also been placed in Category B.
Special Force to Move Within 20 Minutes
As soon as information about a riot, unrest or serious law-and-order incident is received, the district control room will circulate the message. The special force will then be dispatched to the location within 20 minutes.
After reaching the site, the DARF will coordinate with senior police and administrative officials to control the situation, ensure the safety of the public and restore law and order.
