Bihar News : An Air India flight from Delhi to Patna suffered a bird strike shortly before landing at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport on Monday morning. The aircraft, flight AI 1741, was carrying 164 passengers and landed safely at 7:43 am.
The pilot reported to airport authorities that a bird had struck near the aircraft’s right engine before landing. Following the alert, the airport activated emergency protocols as a precaution.
Emergency Services Put on Alert
Fire tenders and other emergency response services were positioned near the runway. Airport authorities and emergency teams remained on alert during the landing.
Patna Airport Director C.P. Dwivedi confirmed the bird strike incident.
The aircraft was safely landed, following which a technical team inspected the plane. The inspection confirmed the bird strike, but no damage to the aircraft’s engine was found.
Technical Inspection Conducted Before Departure
After the safety checks were completed, preparations began to operate the aircraft on its return journey to Delhi.
Officials carried out the necessary technical examination, with passenger safety given priority before the aircraft was cleared for departure.
Flight Departs for Delhi After 79-Minute Delay
The Air India flight was scheduled to depart Patna for Delhi at 8:45 am. However, the bird strike and subsequent safety and technical procedures delayed the flight.
The aircraft eventually departed for Delhi at around 10:09 am, 79 minutes behind schedule, carrying 160 passengers.
According to airport officials, the aircraft was allowed to resume operations only after a complete inspection confirmed that it was safe for flight.
No Passenger Injured in the Incident
Precautionary protocols also led to enhanced security arrangements at the airport for some time after the bird strike.
No passenger was injured in the incident. The aircraft later departed safely for Delhi after the required inspections and safety clearance.
