Woman Dies After Alleged Dowry Harassment, ₹10 Lakh Demand

India News : A woman died after falling from the roof of a building in a colony under the Badalpur police station area of Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. Her family has accused her in-laws of demanding ₹10 lakh in dowry and allegedly pushing her from the roof after the demand was not fulfilled.

Badalpur police station in-charge Vijay Gupta said Chand Prakash, a resident of Bulandshahr district, had married his daughter Rachna to Akash, a resident of Dwarka City Colony in the Badalpur police station area, around a year ago.

Family Alleges ₹10 Lakh Dowry Demand

According to Rachna’s family, her in-laws had been demanding ₹10 lakh in dowry since the marriage. The family alleges that when the demand was not fulfilled, Rachna was pushed from the roof on Tuesday night.

Rachna died after falling from the roof. Her family has filed a complaint with the police regarding the incident.

Police Begin Investigation

Badalpur police station in-charge Vijay Gupta said the matter is being investigated. Police have registered a case and launched a search for the accused.

Police are examining the circumstances surrounding Rachna’s death and investigating the allegations made by her family.
