Giridih: A 24-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death near the popular Maggie Point shop at Bandarkuppi under the Muffasil police station area of Giridih late Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Hrithik Yadav, alias Bunty Yadav, a resident of Rajendra Nagar. His father, Musafir Singh, is serving as a Sub-Inspector in the Jharkhand Police.
Police have launched raids to locate those allegedly involved in the attack. Several people have reportedly been detained for questioning.
Attack Near Maggie Point
According to the deceased’s friend Shubham Das, who spoke at Sadar Hospital on Friday, Hrithik Yadav and his friend Raja Gupta had gone to the Maggie Point at Bandarkuppi in a car at around 10.30 pm on Thursday.
During this time, Satish Yadav, a resident of Nawadih under Pirtand police station area, allegedly arrived at the spot with around 8–10 associates. They allegedly attacked Hrithik and his companions with sticks and other blunt weapons.
Hrithik suffered serious injuries in the assault and died at the spot. Two other youths were also reportedly injured in the incident.
Police Begin Raids, Several Detained
After receiving information about the incident, Muffasil police station in-charge Gyan Ranjan reached the spot with a police team. The injured were sent to hospital for treatment.
According to the police officer, raids have been underway since late Thursday night to arrest the accused. Several people have been taken into custody and are being questioned as part of the investigation.
Nagar police station in-charge Shyam Kishore Mahto confirmed that Hrithik Yadav was killed and said police were investigating the case from all angles.
Father Serving as Jharkhand Police Sub-Inspector
Hrithik’s father, Musafir Singh, is posted as a Sub-Inspector in the Jharkhand Police. The deceased was also associated with the Chhatra Morcha, according to information provided after the incident.
JMM city president Rocky Singh also reached the spot following the incident. He said the killing had left people shocked and that he had spoken to senior police officials regarding the matter.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination on Friday morning. After the post-mortem, it was handed over to the family.
Police are investigating the motive behind the attack and the alleged role of other people who may have been involved.
