Asansol : Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) has signed Letters of Intent (LoIs) for three Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in Paschim Bardhaman district at the CSR Roundtable 2026 organised by the Finance Department of the Government of West Bengal in Kolkata.
Gunjan Kumar Sinha, Director (HR), ECL, presented the LoIs at the roundtable held on September 30 under the theme “Building a Viksit Bengal for Collective Social Impact.”
The event brought together senior officials of the West Bengal government, Central and State public sector undertakings, private sector organisations and CSR representatives to discuss development priorities and opportunities for collaborative interventions.
Three Projects Focus on Health and Community Needs
The three projects signed by ECL focus on health, early childhood care and water conservation.
The initiatives include providing nutritional support to TB patients in Paschim Bardhaman under the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative, as part of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
Another project involves the renovation of Anganwadi Centres located around ECL’s mining areas. The third initiative focuses on the rejuvenation of a water body in one of ECL’s operational areas.
ECL’s Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative Appreciated
ECL’s Ni-kshay Mitra initiative received special mention during the roundtable.
Narayan Swaroop Nigam, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal, appreciated ECL’s nutritional support for TB patients. He also highlighted the company’s initiative to provide diagnostic equipment to strengthen preventive healthcare measures in Paschim Bardhaman district.
CSR Initiatives Aligned with Local Priorities
The projects have been planned in line with local development priorities and the needs of communities living in and around ECL’s operational areas.
Through its CSR interventions, ECL continues to focus on community welfare, sustainable development and the creation of shared value across its command areas.
