Bokaro : ESL Steel Limited organised the #RunForZeroHunger Walkathon on October 2, bringing together more than 500 employees, family members and other participants for a morning focused on fitness, camaraderie and community engagement.

The initiative was organised as part of the Vedanta Group’s #RunForZeroHunger campaign, reinforcing the spirit of collective action towards a social cause.
Every Kilometre Contributes One Meal
Under the campaign, every kilometre walked translates into one meal for someone in need. Meal contributions are channelled through Nand Ghar and animal care initiatives.
Besides promoting physical fitness and active lifestyles, the walkathon highlighted how collective participation can contribute to a positive social impact.

Event Inaugurated by ESL Leadership
The event began with an inaugural address by Ravish Sharma, CEO & Whole-Time Director, ESL Steel Limited, in the presence of Vedanta Shankar, ASP, Bokaro, and Ranjit Yadav, Officer-in-Charge, Siyaljori Police Station.
They encouraged participants to embrace fitness, unity and the spirit of giving while actively contributing to the campaign.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravish Sharma said:
“The #RunForZeroHunger Walkathon reflects our belief that collective efforts can create a meaningful difference in society. It is heartening to see our employees and their families come together to promote fitness while contributing towards the noble cause of feeding those in need.”
Employees, Families and Senior Officials Participate
The walkathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from ESL’s leadership team, directors, heads of departments, employees, their families and other participants.
Among the senior leaders present were Shyamlee Minz, CHRO; Prahalad Rawat, CFO; and Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Head-PR & Stakeholder Management, ESL Steel Ltd., along with other senior officials and department heads.
Tributes Paid at Lal Bahadur Shastri Chowk
The walkathon culminated at Lal Bahadur Shastri Chowk, where participants paid their heartfelt tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, remembering his contributions to the nation.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Ravish Sharma, who appreciated the participants’ response and congratulated everyone for making the initiative a success.
Young Participants Add to Sporting Spirit
Participants from the Security Department secured the top positions among the winners.
A special highlight of the event was the performance of two 15-year-old participants. Om Singh, son of ESL employee Prakash Kumar Singh, secured the fourth position, while Rupesh Chourasia, son of ESL employee Pannal Chourasia, finished sixth.
Their performances reflected the enthusiasm and sporting spirit of the younger generation and added to the inclusive, family-oriented character of the walkathon.
Fitness and Community Participation
Through initiatives such as #RunForZeroHunger, ESL Steel Limited continues to promote a culture of fitness, well-being and community participation.
