Goa : Veteran actor Nana Patekar, one of the most recognised faces of Hindi and Marathi cinema, died on Thursday at the age of 75 after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. He was taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him with prolonged CPR, but he could not be saved.
According to hospital sources, Patekar was found unconscious at his home in Dona Paula, Goa, during the early hours of Thursday. He was subsequently rushed to Manipal Hospital.
Sudden Health Crisis in Early Hours
Reports said Patekar developed a serious cardiac problem at his residence and was found unconscious when medical assistance arrived.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Department of Oncology at Manipal Hospital, confirmed that doctors made extensive efforts to revive the actor. He could not be resuscitated despite around 45 minutes of CPR.
Patekar was declared dead at around 5:20 am, according to hospital-related reports. The case has been registered as a medico-legal case, and a post-mortem examination is being conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.
Who Was Nana Patekar?
Born Vishwanath Patekar, Nana Patekar built a distinctive career in both Hindi and Marathi cinema with his intense performances and powerful dialogue delivery.
He began his film career with ‘Gaman’ in 1978 and went on to portray a wide range of characters over a career spanning more than four decades. His performances in serious dramas as well as mainstream films earned him a strong following.
