Jharkhand: Impact of Cyclone Arnab; rain continues in Ranchi and eight other districts since last night

Ranchi: The impact of Cyclone Arnab has reached Jharkhand. Since Wednesday night, rain has been falling in nine districts, including the capital, Ranchi. On Thursday, the Meteorological Department issued a heavy rainfall warning for 14 districts across the state—an ‘orange alert’ for six districts and a ‘yellow alert’ for eight.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Ranchi, an ‘orange alert’ has been issued today for Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, and Simdega. These districts may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas. Persistent rain could lead to waterlogging in low-lying regions; residents are advised to keep a close watch on weather conditions. A ‘yellow alert’ is in place for Chatra, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Khunti, Seraikela-Kharsawan, and East Singhbhum, where heavy rainfall is expected in some locations. The rain may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, and the public is urged to remain cautious.

Cyclone Arnab made landfall along the coast of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, and its influence has led to a change in weather across Jharkhand. The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid standing in open spaces or under trees during the adverse weather. Given the risk of lightning, those working in fields or open areas are urged to exercise extra caution.
