Jamshedpur : Tata Power has entered the growing microdrama space with the launch of ‘Teri छत, Meri छत!’, a six-episode digital series designed to make rooftop solar more relatable to Indian households.
The series uses humour, family relationships and everyday domestic situations to introduce audiences to the benefits of rooftop solar. Instead of relying on technical explanations, the campaign presents clean energy through a story that reflects common household challenges.
A Family Story at the Heart of the Campaign
The story revolves around the Singh family, whose son, Raghav, has recently secured a work-from-home job. However, frequent power cuts and an unreliable electricity supply threaten to disrupt his professional commitments.
To ensure a more dependable power supply and reduce their rising electricity bills, the family considers installing rooftop solar panels.
The challenge is that the joint family shares a terrace divided by a partition wall. A shadow falling on one side of the rooftop means that both households need to consider a shared solar installation.
The situation brings the two sisters-in-law, Pushpa and Kamla, into the centre of the story. They must put aside their differences and work together to find a solution for the family.
Series Addresses Common Questions About Rooftop Solar
Through everyday conversations and humorous interactions, the microdrama addresses several questions that consumers commonly have about rooftop solar installations.
These include whether solar panels can withstand heavy monsoon storms, whether battery storage is necessary, and how much households can potentially save on electricity bills.
Rather than presenting these issues as technical lessons, the series incorporates them naturally into the characters’ conversations and family situations.
The approach aims to make information about clean energy easier to understand and encourage more households to explore rooftop solar solutions.
Tata Power Solaroof’s Growing Presence in India
The campaign builds on Tata Power Solaroof’s efforts to expand access to rooftop solar solutions for residential, commercial and community users.
According to the company, Tata Power Solaroof has crossed five lakh rooftop solar installations across more than 550 cities and regions in India, with installed rooftop solar capacity exceeding 5.6 GWp.
The company continues to promote reliable, cost-effective and sustainable rooftop solar solutions while raising awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of generating electricity from sunlight.
‘We Wanted to Meet Consumers Where They Are’: Tata Power
Commenting on the campaign, Jyoti Kumar Bansal, Chief of Corporate Communication and Branding at Tata Power, said rooftop solar is often viewed primarily from a technical perspective.
“With ‘Teri छत, Meri छत!’, we wanted to meet Indian consumers where they are, in the heart of their living rooms and on their mobile screens. Not heavy, not educative, not preachy, but subtle,” he said.
The campaign aims to bring rooftop solar into everyday conversations and make the idea of adopting clean energy more accessible to households.
