Dhanbad: The Dhanbad district administration has launched a new initiative aimed at fostering self-reliance among rural women by connecting them with self-employment opportunities. Seventeen women from the Tundi block will now have the chance to earn an income through beekeeping. To facilitate this, the women were provided with three days of specialized training, along with the essential equipment required for beekeeping.
Under the directive of Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Aditya Ranjan, the District Horticulture Office organized this training program in the Jamkol and Saniyadih panchayats of Tundi block. Seventeen women, belonging to self-help groups associated with the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society, participated in the program.
Following the completion of the training, the beneficiaries were provided with 20 bee colonies, 20 eight-frame beehive boxes, a honey extractor machine, and other necessary tools. District Horticulture Officer Amitesh Ranjan, along with local public representatives, presented certificates to the trained women.
District Horticulture Officer Amitesh Ranjan explained that the initiative aims to provide self-employment opportunities to rural women through beekeeping and to increase their income, ultimately helping them become economically strong and self-reliant.
Beekeeping will not only lead to the production of honey but will also promote the pollination process for crops, which is expected to boost the productivity of agricultural and horticultural produce.
This initiative by the district administration is expected to open new avenues for employment and self-reliance for the rural women of Tundi.
