India News : As Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi prepares to launch his ambitious 16-day, 1,300-km-long ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ from Sasaram, Bihar, political temperatures are rising across the state. Ahead of the march, RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav made a strong statement, declaring, “We will not let the Constitution be erased. The people are aware, and the hope for justice remains alive.”
The INDIA bloc, the opposition coalition, is projecting this yatra as a mass movement to uphold the principle of ‘One Person, One Vote’, particularly in the context of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The march is set to conclude on September 1 with a mega rally in Patna.
Independent MP from Purnia, Pappu Yadav, voiced his support, saying Rahul Gandhi is not marching for power but to defend the Constitution. “He wants to end hatred, support farmers, ensure jobs for youth, and stop the manipulation of the Election Commission,” he added.
Speaking at the launch, Tejashwi Yadav accused the BJP of misusing constitutional institutions. “Bihar is the cradle of democracy. We won’t allow voting rights to be diluted. Names are being removed from electoral rolls, which makes this fight essential,” he stated. He also expressed confidence in the judiciary.
Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Rights Yatra’ has already sparked significant political discourse, not just in Bihar but across the country, setting the tone for the months ahead.
