India News : Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren launched a sharp attack on the opposition while addressing an election rally online on Monday in support of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Bhuben Murari for the Chabua-Lahowal constituency in Assam.
Soren alleged that his helicopter was denied permission to fly under the pretext of a Prime Ministerial program, which he called a deliberate attempt to obstruct the democratic process. He asserted that the opposition is trying to suppress the voice of JMM using power and influence, but the party’s fight for rights and dignity cannot be stopped.
“Assam has never bowed down. Today, I was not allowed to campaign citing a Prime Ministerial event. Is democracy now going to be blocked under the guise of programs?” Soren asked, accusing constitutional institutions of being misused and agencies weaponized for political purposes.
The Chief Minister criticized opposition tactics of vote manipulation and obstruction of campaigning, asserting that JMM will not be intimidated. Highlighting the plight of tea garden workers, he said JMM is contesting in areas long neglected, stressing that workers deserve a minimum daily wage of ₹500—a right, not charity.
Soren also questioned why the tribal community in Assam has not yet been granted full recognition, calling it a major government failure. Referring to government promises of ₹9,000 in women’s accounts, he urged voters to consider whether such short-term measures ensure long-term security for their families.
Concluding his address, Soren urged citizens to remain united, recognize their own strength, and stand up for their rights. “When society unites to demand justice, the government will have to listen, laying the foundation for a better future for workers and tribal communities,” he said.
