Bihar News : The Bihar Assembly is moving towards a fully digital system. Under the e-Vidhan (NeVA) system, Zero Hour notices along with calling attention motions, adjournment motions, submissions, petitions and private members’ resolutions will be presented online before the House in the coming days. The Assembly’s Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business will be amended for this purpose.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Assembly’s Rules Committee on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Assembly Speaker Dr Prem Kumar, who urged committee members to carefully examine the proposed amendments and provide their suggestions.
Rules to Be Amended
Assembly Speaker Dr Prem Kumar said the experience and guidance of the committee would help frame rules that meet current requirements while remaining useful in view of future technological developments.
He said the online system would save time and help preserve Assembly records securely and permanently. It would also make the functioning of the Assembly more efficient, transparent and effective.
Pending Matters to Be Reviewed
A meeting of the General Purposes Committee was also held later. It was decided that pending matters would first be reviewed.
Where necessary, pending proceedings may be treated as closed and the matters disposed of accordingly.
Several Leaders Attend Meeting
Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha, Lesi Singh and Kedar Prasad Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad, former minister Alok Mehta, and MLAs Arun Manjhi and Madhav Anand were present at the meetings of the Rules Committee and General Purposes Committee.
The expansion of the e-Vidhan system marks another step towards bringing the Bihar Assembly’s proceedings and information fully online.
