Bihar News : The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, on Wednesday approved 24 proposals covering infrastructure, agriculture, drinking water, cooperatives, education, sports, judicial administration, and women and child development.
Among the key decisions were approvals for block-level infrastructure projects, working capital support for cooperative societies, development of refrigerated transport (reefer) vehicles, irrigation and farm mechanization initiatives, vermicompost units, revival of sugar mills, urban drinking water projects, modernization of engineering and polytechnic institutions, and the recruitment of 22,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers.
New Bridges Approved in Jamui
The Cabinet sanctioned the construction of two high-level RCC bridges on National Highway-333A in Jamui district. A bridge at Nariyana Ghat over the Kiul River on the Khaira-Sono road will be built at a cost of ₹93.82 crore, while another bridge over the Mangobandar-Suknar River will be constructed for ₹55.96 crore. The projects are expected to improve connectivity and boost economic activity in the region.
Sugar Mill Revival in Mithilanchal
The government also approved the establishment of new cooperative sugar mills and sugarcane by-product industries at the closed sugar mill premises in Raiyam (Darbhanga) and Sakri (Madhubani). The initiative aims to provide better market access for sugarcane farmers, create local employment, and promote industrial growth in the Mithilanchal region.
Drinking Water Projects Under AMRUT 2.0
Under the centrally sponsored AMRUT 2.0 Mission, the Cabinet approved drinking water projects for Lakhisarai and Kishanganj. The Lakhisarai project has been sanctioned ₹150.96 crore, while the Kishanganj project received ₹53.71 crore to improve access to safe drinking water and strengthen urban infrastructure.
₹106.39 Crore for Vegetable Marketing, 22,000 Anganwadi Posts Approved
The Cabinet approved a ₹106.39 crore plan to strengthen the three-tier cooperative structure of Vegfed under the Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing Scheme. It also cleared the recruitment of 22,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and approved the revised Anganwadi Selection Guidelines-2026.
Boost for Agriculture
To strengthen the farm sector, the Cabinet approved ₹97.48 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana. It also sanctioned ₹158.62 crore as grant assistance to Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, for salary and pension payments during the 2026-27 financial year.
Under the Fourth Agriculture Road Map, ₹236.58 crore was approved for the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization, enabling subsidies for farm equipment, establishment of Custom Hiring Centres, Drone Custom Hiring Centres, and village-level farm machinery banks.
Additionally, ₹30.17 crore was sanctioned for setting up permanent vermicompost units, cow dung and biogas units, and commercial vermicompost facilities across all 38 districts of Bihar.
Sports Policy and Technical Education
The Cabinet approved the Bihar Sports Policy-2026 to promote sports development across the state.
To strengthen technical education, administrative approval of ₹60.49 crore each was granted for purchasing and installing machinery, equipment, computers, and other infrastructure in 38 government engineering colleges and 46 government polytechnic institutes under the state’s Saat Nischay programme.
Judicial Strengthening
To improve judicial infrastructure, the Cabinet approved the creation of 19 new District and Additional Sessions Judge posts. It also sanctioned three additional judge posts for setting up two new special courts in Patna and one in Muzaffarpur under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
According to the state government, the Cabinet’s decisions are expected to accelerate infrastructure development, agricultural modernization, industrial growth, drinking water supply, technical education, sports promotion, judicial reforms, and women and child welfare while creating new employment opportunities across Bihar.
