Bihar News : Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday transferred a total of ₹1,157.72 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of 1 crore 1 lakh 33 thousand social security pension beneficiaries. Each beneficiary received ₹1,100 under the state’s social security pension scheme.
The programme was organised at the Sankalp Auditorium at Lok Sevak Awas and was also attended virtually by social security pensioners, district magistrates and dignitaries from all districts through video conferencing.
Pension Increased from ₹400 to ₹1,100
Addressing the programme, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary congratulated and extended his best wishes to all social security pension beneficiaries on the occasion of Pension Day.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the social security pension amount was increased from ₹400 to ₹1,100.
The Chief Minister said the government has ensured that pension amounts are transferred to the accounts of all social security pension beneficiaries on the 10th of every month.
He described the system as an example of a transparent, accountable and technology-based public welfare mechanism.
DM Asked to Ensure No Eligible Beneficiary Is Left Out
Samrat Choudhary directed district magistrates to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out of the social security pension scheme.
He said pension distribution should continue in a timely and transparent manner so that every eligible citizen receives social security benefits with dignity.
The Chief Minister said increasing the pension amount from ₹400 to ₹1,100 has brought changes to the lives of beneficiaries.
125 Units of Free Electricity for 1.70 Crore Families
The Chief Minister also said that 1.70 crore families in Bihar are being provided 125 units of free electricity.
According to him, the state government is spending ₹23,000 crore as subsidy for the free electricity scheme. He reiterated that the government is committed to the social security of poor, deprived and needy sections of society.
Senior Officials Attend Programme
Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Social Welfare Minister Dr Shweta Gupta, Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Additional Chief Secretary of the Social Welfare Department H.R. Srinivas, Chief Minister’s Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh, Social Security Director Dr Preeti, and other senior officials were present at the programme.
District magistrates, dignitaries and beneficiaries from all districts joined the programme through video conferencing.
