Bihar to Screen 6 Crore People Under New Health Campaign, Says Samrat Choudhary

Bihar News : Bihar has launched a statewide ‘Janch Evam Upchar–Chikitsa Aapke Dwar’ campaign aimed at detecting serious diseases at an early stage and ensuring timely treatment. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the campaign in Patna and flagged off awareness vehicles for all 38 districts.

Under the campaign, the state aims to conduct health screening of around 6 crore people and prepare digital health records for citizens. The campaign will run from September 2 to November 30, 2026.

Health Screening for People Above 30

Samrat Choudhary congratulated the Health Department on the launch of the campaign and said its main objective was to identify diseases before they become serious and ensure timely treatment.

He said, “Get yourself tested so that you do not fall sick in the first place.” Citizens above the age of 30 will be screened under the campaign. Health workers will visit households to conduct primary health checks and provide medical advice.

Patients requiring further treatment will be provided healthcare facilities ranging from Ayushman Arogya Mandirs to district hospitals, depending on their needs.

Surging Number of Surgeries at District Hospitals

The Chief Minister said the state has been continuously strengthening its healthcare services. He said referrals from hospitals have declined, while the number of surgeries being performed at district hospitals has increased significantly.

According to him, district hospitals conducted 2,428 operations in June, while the number has now increased to more than 8,000.

Earlier, district and sub-divisional hospitals were conducting surgeries for 36 types of diseases. This has now been increased to 45 types of surgeries, enabling patients to receive better treatment closer to home.

Special Campaign for Anaemia Screening

Samrat Choudhary also said a special campaign is being conducted for anaemia screening across the state. The programme has set a target of screening 1 crore people.

Alongside this initiative, the state plans to screen around 6 crore people and create their health records as part of the broader health campaign.

The Chief Minister said healthy families are the foundation of a prosperous state and appealed to people to actively participate in the campaign and undergo health screening.

Focus on Healthcare Infrastructure and Human Resources

The Chief Minister said the state is strengthening both healthcare infrastructure and human resources. Arrangements will also be made to provide foreign-language training to students studying in nursing and paramedical colleges.

The aim is to provide students with better training and expand their employment opportunities, including opportunities abroad.

‘Mission Kayakalp’ to Strengthen Primary Healthcare

Samrat Choudhary also announced plans to launch ‘Mission Kayakalp’ to strengthen primary healthcare services. Under the initiative, Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Additional Primary Health Centres (APHCs) and health sub-centres will be improved and their facilities upgraded.

He said the initiative would help provide quality healthcare closer to people’s homes.

The Chief Minister directed all district magistrates to regularly monitor the campaign so that the targets are achieved on time and healthcare benefits reach as many people as possible.

Campaign to Continue Till November 30

Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Health Minister Nishant Kumar and Health Department Secretary Kumar Ravi also shared their views at the programme.

The statewide ‘Janch Evam Upchar–Chikitsa Aapke Dwar’ campaign will continue from September 2 to November 30, 2026. Door-to-door health screening, medical consultation and treatment based on individual needs will remain the key focus of the campaign.
