Bihar News : Police have registered an FIR against 29 named individuals and 200–250 unidentified persons in connection with violence that broke out during a protest held on July 25. The case includes allegations of vandalism, damage to government property, stone-pelting on police personnel, and attacks on media persons. Four people have been arrested from the scene, while the investigation is ongoing.
According to the FIR, a large number of students had gathered to submit a memorandum outlining their demands to the District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police. After holding discussions with the officials, the students dispersed peacefully.
However, authorities alleged that after the students left, some anti-social elements within the crowd attempted to disrupt the situation by pelting stones at police and administrative officials.
District Magistrate Anshul Kumar and Superintendent of Police Dr. Shaurya Suman had already deployed magistrates and police personnel at sensitive locations in anticipation of the protest. The administration said it adopted a conciliatory approach, listened to the students’ demands, and persuaded them to return peacefully. Officials credited these precautionary measures with preventing large-scale violence and arson in the city.
The FIR states that people from areas including Amour, Rauta, Baisa, Baisi, Chimni Bazaar, Kasba, Banbhag, Madhopara, Ali Tola, Line Bazaar, Madhubani, and the DAV College area were among those present in the crowd. The accused allegedly broke police barricades, damaged vehicles, CCTV cameras, and government publicity materials, and resorted to stone-pelting. The road blockade also disrupted ambulance services and stranded commuters. Police said they had to use limited force to bring the situation under control. Several police personnel were reportedly injured during the incident.
The FIR also alleges that media personnel covering the protest were assaulted and misbehaved with. Several journalists’ organizations have condemned the alleged attacks on reporters.
Despite the tense situation, the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, and other officials managed to restore order within a short period through coordinated efforts, according to the administration.
Those named in the FIR include Sourya Rai, Sajid, Dilip Rai, Ajay Bharti, Ali Khan (school operator), Kumar Aditya, Nadeem Sarwar, Sheikh Saifuddin Ali, Yasir Arafat, Shivam Kumar Goswami, Dr. Altaf, Dr. Sabbir, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Arju Haq, Vikram Paswan (Bhim Army), Mohammad Mosharaf Alam alias Prince, Yazdani Raj, Faizal Raj, Ajmer Karim, Saddam Hussain, Mohammad Shahbaz Alam, Sheikh Saddam, Mohammad Irshad Purnavi, Mohammad Ajmer, Mohammad Nikki, Mohammad Chahat, Mohammad Akram Raza, Altaf Hussain, and Mohammad Ali Ahmad Khan.
Police said the allegations mentioned in the FIR are under investigation, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings.
