Patna: A total of 3,637 people from Bihar will undertake the Haj pilgrimage in 2027, with the journey scheduled to begin in the first week of April. The Minority Welfare Department has issued guidelines for the selected pilgrims.
According to the department, Haj pilgrims from Bihar will depart from Patna Airport and Gaya Airport. Cover numbers have already been issued to the selected pilgrims, who must deposit the first instalment of the travel cost within the prescribed deadline.
First Instalment Fixed at ₹1,52,300
Selected pilgrims will have to deposit ₹1,52,300 as the first instalment for the Haj pilgrimage. The amount includes a processing charge of ₹300.
The department has asked the selected pilgrims to deposit the first instalment within the stipulated time.
Children Below 15 Not Allowed
Children below the age of 15 will not be permitted to undertake the Haj pilgrimage. Pilgrims above the age of 65 must be accompanied by an attendant.
The entire expense of the attendant will have to be borne by the concerned pilgrim.
Minimum Four People Required in Women’s Cover
Women will also be allowed to undertake the Haj pilgrimage, but their cover must include at least four people.
Based on the Muslim population, the Central Haj Committee fixes an annual Haj quota of around 12,000 for Bihar. However, Bihar’s quota has not been fully utilised for the past several years.
