Bihar News : Activity surrounding the proposed airport project in Virpur, Supaul district, gained momentum on Monday as Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav conducted a surprise inspection of the proposed airport site.
During the inspection, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the available land, construction preparations and the current status of the project. He also held a review meeting with officials and sought details of the progress made so far. Officials were directed to expedite the necessary processes and ensure that the project moves forward within the stipulated timeline.
The Deputy Chief Minister reached Virpur by road and proceeded directly to the proposed airport site. He inspected the area from the runway zone to the far end of the proposed airport premises and reviewed the available land, construction possibilities and technical preparations. Officials briefed him on the administrative and technical procedures related to the project.
Airport Could Be Ready Within 1.5 to 2 Years
After the inspection, Bijendra Prasad Yadav said the Virpur airport could be completed within the next one-and-a-half to two years, provided land transfer, administrative approvals and other technical procedures are completed as scheduled.
He said the airport would give a major boost to development in the border region, promote trade and investment, strengthen tourism and provide better air connectivity to the people.
Project Expected to Improve Connectivity in Kosi Region
The demand for an airport in Virpur has been raised for a long time. The Deputy Chief Minister’s inspection and his statement regarding the expected timeline have strengthened hopes among local residents that the project will soon become a reality.
Residents believe the airport will significantly improve connectivity in Supaul and the wider Kosi region while also creating new opportunities for employment and business.
Tight Security Arrangements
Extensive security arrangements were made across Virpur ahead of the Deputy Chief Minister’s visit. Police personnel were deployed at major intersections, while administrative and police officials remained present throughout the inspection.
During the visit, Janata Dal (United) block president Anil Kherwar welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister by presenting him with a bouquet.
Deputy Development Commissioner Indraveer Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer Vinay Kumar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Surendra Kumar, Circle Officer Brajesh Kumar Singh, Block Development Officer Sujeet Kumar Mishra, Station House Officer Sanjay Das, along with several administrative officials and JD(U) workers, were present during the inspection.
