Bihar News : Health services are being expanded across the district through various initiatives of the state government. Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Hriday Yojana, children suffering from congenital heart disease, including heart defects, are being provided free treatment. So far, 118 children from Katihar have undergone screening, while 30 have successfully undergone surgery.
Health facilities including OPD services, indoor treatment, free pathology tests and X-rays are being provided from Katihar Sadar Hospital to primary health centres. Several measures have also been taken to strengthen treatment facilities for serious illnesses and improve healthcare infrastructure.
Free Tests and Modern Medical Facilities
According to the district administration and health department, free pathology testing is available at Katihar Sadar Hospital and all primary health centres. Free X-ray services are also being provided at 13 health institutions across the district.
Modern ultrasound and dialysis services are being operated at Sadar Hospital under the PPP model. A Cancer Day Care facility has also been established on the hospital premises for cancer patients.
118 Children Screened, 30 Successfully Operated
The Mukhyamantri Bal Hriday Yojana provides completely free treatment for children suffering from congenital heart defects.
Under the scheme, 118 children from Katihar have so far been screened at IGIC, IGIMS in Patna and Sathy Sai Hospital in Ahmedabad. Of these, 30 children have successfully undergone surgery.
‘Didi Ki Rasoi’ Provides Free Meals
‘Didi Ki Rasoi’ is being operated at Sadar Hospital and subdivision hospitals to provide free and quality meals to admitted patients.
The initiative is providing relief to patients and their families during hospital stays.
10 Community Health Centres Completed
To strengthen healthcare facilities at the grassroots level, primary health centres at the block level are being upgraded into six-bed Community Health Centres (CHCs).
So far, construction of 10 Community Health Centres has been completed in Katihar district. Construction of CHC buildings at Balrampur and Hasanpur is in its final stage.
In addition, under the Ayushman Arogya Mandir initiative for the financial year 2025-26, construction of 10 new health centre buildings in the district has also been completed.
