World News : Saudi Arabia came under a fresh missile and drone attack allegedly launched from Yemen, with explosions reported in the industrial city of Jizan. According to Arab media reports, a key Saudi facility linked to Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil company, was among the targets.
The strikes reportedly caused power outages in several areas. Arab sources claimed that an Aramco-related oil installation was targeted, while the attacks also affected the Jizan, Yanbu, and Damad regions.
Following the incident, Saudi Civil Defense issued an emergency alert for Yanbu Province through the National Early Warning Platform, urging residents to remain vigilant.
The latest escalation comes amid heightened regional tensions involving the United States, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen’s Houthi movement. The reported attack followed Saudi airstrikes late Friday on the Houthi-controlled city of Hodeidah in Yemen.
Before the retaliatory strikes, the Houthi-run Foreign Ministry had warned that Saudi Arabia would “pay a heavy price” for the attacks. According to Al Masirah TV, a media outlet affiliated with the Houthis, Saudi strikes targeted telecommunications facilities in Hodeidah and also hit Kamaran Island, where one woman was reportedly injured.
Earlier this week, the Houthis claimed responsibility for missile and drone attacks on Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, alleging that at least one vessel was damaged. The group said the operation was part of a blockade announced on July 20, which it described as retaliation for an attack on Sanaa International Airport.
The Saudi-backed Yemeni government had claimed responsibility for the airport strike. The renewed exchange of attacks has raised concerns that the informal truce in place since 2022 may be unraveling, increasing fears over the security of Red Sea shipping lanes and the potential impact on global trade.
