Bihar News : The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has been hit by a significant setback ahead of the Bankipur Assembly by-election after its chief spokesperson, Mritunjay Tiwari, resigned from his post. Political observers believe the move is more than just an organizational resignation and may reflect growing dissatisfaction within the party over its internal functioning.
Tiwari, who has been one of RJD’s most prominent public faces for nearly a decade, played a key role in defending the party’s positions in the media while it was in the opposition. Announcing his resignation, he said he had not received the respect he deserved and that the decision came after enduring a long period of disappointment. He also made it clear that he has no intention of withdrawing his resignation.
His resignation has intensified speculation about internal differences within the party. In recent months, Tej Pratap Yadav and Rohini Acharya have also publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the role and influence of certain individuals within the organization. Tiwari’s decision has added further momentum to these discussions.
According to political analysts, the episode reflects an apparent divide between the party’s experienced grassroots leaders and the newer leadership team surrounding Tejashwi Yadav. However, this remains a political assessment and has not been officially confirmed by the party. Senior RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui has reportedly attempted to defuse the situation by urging Tiwari to discuss his concerns directly with party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav.
The timing of the resignation is particularly significant, as it comes just before the Bankipur Assembly by-election. At a time when the party is expected to focus on strengthening its electoral campaign, the exit of one of its most recognizable spokespersons could pose political challenges. Observers also believe it may affect RJD’s efforts to project itself as a party representing all social groups, beyond its traditional support base.
So far, the RJD leadership has not issued a detailed official response to the resignation. Political attention is now focused on whether the party can contain the growing discontent and prevent the issue from escalating into a wider organizational crisis.
