New Agricultural Innovations Benefiting Farmers, Says Bihar Minister

Bihar News : The 17th foundation day of Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, was celebrated with enthusiasm and grandeur on Wednesday. The programme was inaugurated virtually by Bihar Governor-cum-Chancellor Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain, who extended his greetings and best wishes to the university fraternity.

Bihar Rural Development and Information & Public Relations Minister Shravan Kumar attended the event as the chief guest. Bhagalpur MP Ajay Mandal, Kahalgaon MLA Shubhanand Mukesh Shuddhu Sai, and several other public representatives were also present.

Vice-Chancellor Dr D.R. Singh, university officials, agricultural scientists, academicians, progressive farmers, alumni and a large number of students also participated in the celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Shravan Kumar said that established in 2010, Bihar Agricultural University has made significant achievements over the past 16 years in agricultural education, research and extension services.

Congratulating the university fraternity on its foundation day, he said the institution has been continuously undertaking new experiments and innovations and providing farmers with improved varieties of seeds. These efforts, he said, are helping increase both agricultural production and farmers’ income.

The minister said the Bihar government has been consistently implementing initiatives under the Agriculture Roadmap, which has contributed to several achievements in the state’s agricultural production. Bihar has also registered notable progress in paddy and pulse production, he added.

During the ceremony, the university’s major achievements were highlighted, while individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the agricultural sector were also honoured.
