Bihar News : Patients undergoing CT scan and MRI examinations at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) will now pay lower charges than those at AIIMS Patna. The services will be provided through the newly installed CT scan and MRI machines in PMCH’s new emergency block.
The revised rates were approved by the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (Patient Welfare Committee) on Saturday. PMCH Superintendent Dr. Rajeev Kumar Singh said the reduced charges would particularly benefit economically weaker patients. The hospital expects the new rates to come into effect from August 15.
25% Discount on CT Scan Charges
The revised tariff covers 71 types of CT scan investigations, with a 25% concession on the listed charges.
Some of the revised rates include:
- Non-Contrast CT Head: Reduced from ₹600 to ₹450
- NCCT Paranasal Sinus: Reduced from ₹1,300 to ₹975
- CT Angiography: Reduced from ₹2,300 to ₹1,725
- CECT of Knee, Shoulder, Wrist and Elbow: Reduced from ₹2,150 to ₹1,612.50
Charges for procedures such as CT-guided FNAC, biopsy, catheter drainage, radiofrequency ablation, and other interventions have also been reduced from ₹1,100 to ₹825.
MRI Charges Also Reduced
PMCH has also announced a 25% reduction in MRI charges across various investigations.
Routine MRI scans, including ankle, cervical spine, lumbosacral spine, abdomen, pelvis, and other plain MRI studies, will now cost ₹2,625, down from ₹3,500.
Contrast-enhanced MRI studies, including brain tumour protocol, pituitary protocol, cranial nerve evaluation, multiple sclerosis protocol, abdomen, and other specialized examinations, will now cost ₹4,125, reduced from ₹5,500.
For advanced and combined MRI examinations:
- A scan previously priced at ₹8,000 will now cost ₹6,000.
- A ₹7,000 scan will cost ₹5,250.
- A ₹6,500 scan will cost ₹4,875.
Major Relief for Patients
The reduced imaging charges are expected to provide significant financial relief to patients, especially those suffering from cancer, neurological disorders, traumatic injuries, and other serious medical conditions that require repeated CT scans and MRI examinations. The lower costs are expected to reduce the financial burden on patients and their families while improving access to advanced diagnostic services.
