India News : A fresh political controversy has erupted within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after senior leader Raghav Chadha raised serious questions against the party leadership following his removal from the post of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha. Expressing his disappointment, Chadha released a video message in which he alleged that attempts were being made to silence his voice in Parliament.
In an emotional yet sharp statement, Chadha questioned why raising public issues had become a problem for his own party. Using poetic expression, he said, “Do not mistake my silence for my defeat. I am like a river that can turn into a flood when the time comes,” signaling his defiance despite the setback.
Chadha emphasized that whenever he got an opportunity to speak in Parliament, he consistently raised issues affecting common citizens—topics that are often overlooked in mainstream political debates. He questioned whether speaking about public concerns had now become an “offense.” According to him, the party had even written to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat requesting that he not be allowed to speak in the House.
Raising direct questions to the leadership, Chadha said it was difficult to understand why anyone would want to restrict his voice. He highlighted several issues he had brought up in Parliament, including high food prices at airports, the concerns of delivery workers such as those associated with Zomato, toll plaza charges, banking fees, and irregularities in recharge cycles. He argued that these issues benefitted the common people, and questioned how such efforts could harm the party.
Reaffirming his commitment to the public, Chadha thanked citizens for their continued support and urged them to stand by him. He reiterated that his silence should not be interpreted as weakness and hinted at a stronger response in the future.
Meanwhile, the issue has triggered reactions from opposition parties. Ramvir Singh Bidhuri of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized AAP, calling the move “authoritarian.” He stated that Chadha is an effective speaker and questioned whether internal democracy still exists within the party. He also urged Arvind Kejriwal to clarify the party’s stance.
Similarly, Congress leader Mallu Ravi accused AAP of undermining democratic values, stating that preventing a Member of Parliament from speaking goes against the basic principles of democracy.
The controversy has intensified political tensions, and it remains to be seen how AAP leadership responds to Chadha’s allegations in the coming days.
