India News : While the US often touts its F-35 stealth fighter as the world’s most advanced fifth-generation jet, Russia’s Su-57M1E is making waves in the global defense market.
The Su-57M1E is a stealth, multi-role fighter designed for both air superiority and ground attack missions. Capable of reaching Mach 2 (around 2,450 km/h), it boasts a combat range of 3,500 km without refueling. Its hallmark is the super-cruise mode, allowing supersonic flight without afterburners. Equipped with the N036 Byelka AESA radar, thrust-vectoring engines, and L-band radar, the aircraft is designed to stay undetectable and highly lethal.
With 12 hardpoints (six internal), the Su-57M1E can carry a wide range of missiles and bombs while maintaining stealth capabilities.
Currently, India lacks an operational fifth-generation fighter. The IAF relies on Su-30MKI and Rafale jets, while the indigenous Tejas Mk2 is under development. India’s long-term hope rests on the AMCA (Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft) project, expected to take flight only by 2035.
Reports suggest Russian President Vladimir Putin may offer the Su-57M1E to India during his upcoming visit, with full technology transfer included.
The Su-57M1E’s estimated cost is $35–40 million (₹352+ crore) per unit—almost half the price of the US-made F-35, which is valued at around ₹700 crore per jet.
