Seven Die in Road Accident; Outraged Villagers Block Road

Khunti: Following a horrific road accident late Thursday night near the Jone-Ludru bend on the Karra-Torpa main road—within the jurisdiction of the Karra police station—seven people lost their lives. In response, outraged villagers blocked the road near the railway crossing on Friday morning.

The agitated villagers were demanding adequate compensation for the families of the victims, as well as improved road safety measures.

It is noteworthy that seven individuals died in the accident, which occurred late Thursday night. The deceased include Karmi Lohrain (55), Jaswanti Devi (40), Agni Sanga (35), Subhani Kumari (11), Soni Kumari (9), Anjali Kumari (18), and Kaushalya Devi (40).

Upon receiving reports of the road blockade, Karra Station House Officer (SHO) Raju Kumar, along with several other police and administrative officials, arrived at the scene and attempted to persuade the villagers to clear the road; however, the crowd did not heed their appeals. The blockade was still ongoing at the time of writing this report.
