Bihar News : Simran Parveen, daughter of Siwan district, is set to showcase her rugby talent in China after being selected for the Indian Under-18 Sevens Rugby Football Team. Simran, the second daughter of Afroza Ansari and Islam Ansari of Karom village in Darauli block, will represent India at the Asian Under-18 Sevens Rugby Football Championship to be held in Qingdao, China, from September 5 to 7, 2026.
Simran’s selection has brought immense joy among sports enthusiasts in Siwan and residents of her village. She is a talented player of the Rani Lakshmibai Sports Academy and is currently undergoing specialised rugby training in Barh, Patna district.
Simran’s Journey at Rani Lakshmibai Sports Academy
Sanjay Pathak, founder-cum-director of Rani Lakshmibai Sports Academy and Simran’s coach, said she had been a residential trainee at the academy from Class 7 through intermediate level. During this period, the academy provided her with all facilities free of cost.
She is currently continuing her training as a non-residential player. According to Pathak, since 2013, dozens of academy players have represented the Bihar Rugby Football Team and have been members of medal-winning teams at national competitions.
First Siwan Player to Make India’s National Rugby Team
Earlier, Putul Kumari and Usha Kumari had also participated in the training camp of the Indian Rugby Football Team, but they could not make the final selection.
Simran Parveen is the first player from Siwan district to be selected for the Indian national rugby team. She will now represent the country at the Asian Championship in China.
Her achievement has come through hard work, rigorous practice and consistent training. The rugby coach at the Barh sports ground, the Bihar State Sports Authority and Pankaj Jyoti, secretary of the Bihar State Rugby Football Association, also played an important role in her journey.
Strong Performance Earned Simran a Place in India Team
According to Sanjay Pathak, Simran was selected for the Indian team’s training camp on the basis of her impressive performance at the national championship held in Hyderabad.
Following this, a training camp was organised at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar. After the training camp, Simran performed strongly in practice matches held in Thailand from August 13 to 17. Her performance there helped her secure a place in the Indian team.
Simran’s selection is a matter of pride not only for her family and the people of Karom village but for the entire Siwan district. Her achievement is expected to inspire other young rugby players from the district and encourage them to pursue opportunities at national and international levels.
