India News : A spectacular celestial event is set to grace the night sky today, Sunday, September 7, as a total lunar eclipse — the last of the year — will be visible across India and most parts of the world.
The eclipse will begin at 9:57 PM IST with the penumbral phase, gradually progressing to the partial stage. The total lunar eclipse will start at 11:00 PM IST, reaching its peak at 12:22 AM, and will conclude with the partial phase ending at 1:26 AM (early morning of September 8).
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the Moon. As Earth’s shadow covers the Moon completely during totality, it often takes on a reddish hue, commonly referred to as a “Blood Moon” — a phenomenon that adds to the visual spectacle.
Since this eclipse will be visible across all parts of India, skywatchers and astronomy enthusiasts are in for a treat, provided the weather remains clear.
So, step outside tonight and look up — the universe is putting on a show!
